Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ
Finance
- Responsible for strategic procurement spend activity for a designated range of goods and services
- Achieve maximum cost saving and avoidance, including target savings
- Implement and manage optimum inventory levels to ensure product availability whilst minimise obsolescence and drive cost reduction
- Implement key strategic procurement project activity, including identifying opportunities to change suppliers where such a change enables procurement savings without adversely affecting supply or quality compliance
- Manage negotiations for preferred suppliers and implement SLA and contract terms
- Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that all projects and NPD are delivered to agreed budgets
Customer
- Provide procurement leadership and support business requirements
- Ensure security of supply for all critical products and services
- Develop suppliers to ensure a robust supply chain for all relevant goods and services and maximise alternative supplier potential
- Build strong and long-term relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure full procurement input to the S&OP process to ensure that material or component availability are not an issue
- Ensure that there is transparency of information with all internal customers through regular communications with all stakeholders
Process
- Implement procurement best practice and ensure it is consistently applied to the effective use of procurement resources, tools ands techniques to enable a structured approach to deliver best value for money
- Implement full procurement cycle process in achieving maximum strategic procurement performance in terms of customers service, quality and cost
- Perform risk management analysis and determine the best value for money procurement routes
- Develop supplier evaluation and vendor rating procedure and implement agreed SLA and contract terms with all key suppliers
- Liaise with Quality Group representative to ensure that the potential suppliers, and related parties are audited before commitments are made
- Work with all relevant suppliers and internal contacts to ensure that before any contracts are concluded that all documentation produced are of the highest standard and inspections by all regulatory bodies and auditors are successful
People
- Responsible for providing support to colleagues and occasionally new starters for improved overall performance
- Building and developing critical relationships particularly with strategic suppliers
- Supporting all internal customers on relevant procurement activity including providing timely and accurate delivery of outputs including performance tracking visibility
- Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Support a team culture which is customer focused with a primary emphasis upon improved flexibility of all functions within procurement department, including indirect as well as direct spend activity.
Specific Departmental Functions
- Responsible for all aspects of procurement activity associated with designated range of category suppliers
- To manage supplier relationships in a strategic manner to ensure continuity of supply and ensure commercial terms are suitable
- Accountability for day to day purchasing activities ensuring that customer needs are delivered in a timely manner
- Achieve best value for money on all procurement goods, works and services and reduce the cost of procurement process and ensure continuous improvement
- Liaise with Quality to ensure quality standards are adhered too in supply of goods and services
- Implement strategic procurement projects that will provide the greatest opportunity to improve service levels and generate procurement savings
- Encourage a competitive and varied supply market and apply best practice tools and techniques to analyse spend and gain maximum strategic and tactical advantage
- Promote supplier relationship management and actively engage with key suppliers to address issues and identify potential opportunities to further develop collaboration and deliver continuous improvement of supplier performance (e.g. Costs, Service and Quality)
- Implement agreed SLA and contract terms with all key suppliers and develop key supplier performance measures and reporting that will be used to monitor both supplier and performance
- To provide full and appropriate procurement input to NPD projects and ensure that a robust supply chain is in place from initial launch to long term security of supply
- To contribute to the development of detailed specifications for goods and services and develop new sources of supply where it is advantageous to the company
- To manage tender and negotiation process for new contracts and contract renewals

Education / Professional Memberships
- Preferably a member of CIPS or equivalent supply chain body
Specific Experience Required
- >3 years experience in a manufacturing based organisation in a strategic procurement role, preferably within pharmaceuticals or similar industry
